Tunceli (Tunceli derives from the combination of words Tunç and El -eli, Bronze and hand, Bronze hand, Bronze fist) is a province in the Eastern Anatolia region of Turkey. The province was named "Dersim" until 1936. In Turkish language Ders means class/lesson.Dersim means my class, Dersimiz is today's class and it refers to the province Dersim so Tunceli as it is known today.

Prime Minister chose the words “Dersim massacre” as he was criticizing the politician’s remarks during a plenary session in Parliament. Whoever didn't know enough about the Dersim incident started to question the things happened back then.
